Selecting the right light appearance is also very important. The Kelvin scale is used to determine light appearance. A lower temperature indicates a warmer, yellow light while a higher temperature indicates a cooler, white light. 3500 Kelvin is considered neutral white and can be used in almost every space. Kitchens, bathrooms and workspaces are recommended to go with either 4000 Kelvin or 5000 Kelvin fixtures. A few appliances go up to 6500 Kelvin, which is used for task lighting, detailing, or industrial applications.
